SCREAM OPENING ANALYSIS 2 MINUTES

TITLING
In the title of scream its white and then it transacts into a red title, which is associated with blood and gore and a black back round which is normally associated with death, the size of the font makes it fit the screen, and when it transacts into red the speed of the titles makes the viewer seem as if its going to be jumpy or horrific as it makes it more spooky.
CAMERA MOVEMENT
Zooming is used throughout the scene to engage the audience into the movie. Zooming is used on a lot of clips to allow the audience to see the facial expressions of the young girl. Tracking is also used a lot the begging scenes as the character begins to lock herself into the house as she is scared and paranoid. Tacking is used to follow her movement throughout the location. Paranoia and tension could also be used here as we don't know what's going to happen next or whether the killer will be next. This is used at the point from where an extreme long shot is taken so that the audience is able to notice the background of the young girl.
FRAMING OF SHOT

The opening sequence of scream begins with mid shot. The movies starts with the character speaking of the phone this makes the audience see that she's talking to a stranger on the phone which represents her as being young and un-responsible. At 1:14 there's a tilt up to down camera shot from the outside of the house, it shows a swing slowly rocking by the wind which shows loneliness, there is also an extreme long shot this makes the audience to notice that the house is alone which show that she is alone. Also the shot of the house is taken far away which could represent to the audience that something may be in the background. In the end of the opening sequence, close ups are used a lot to show the facial expression shown by the character, this shows her scared reaction.
MISE-EN-SCENE
Mis-en-scene is used throughout the scene to represent the genre and age of the movie, but also to show the aloneness of the house and the innocence of the female character. The character is a typical victim blonde, young, and alone female it is important in representing these main features of a victim in a horror movie. The female character is also dressed in a white dress which buttons all the way up to the neck line. This is extreamly important as it is used to represent innocence of the young female character.
EDITING DIRECTIONS
In the first 2minutes of scream the editing is used as the shot fades out so that the title is able to rise to the centre of the shot. The cutting of the shots begin the get faster in order to help build tension this creates a fast rhythm whilst doing this.
